Win an iPad (for real)
Beware the scams, we’ve got a legit iPad giveaway for you.
Recently Rhonda pointed out that what with all the excitement around the imminent retail availability of the iPad, there are bound to be scammers-a-plenty looking to bilk you out of your hard earned cash, or worse – maybe steal your identity – by taking advantage of your geek-driven need to be one of the first to own Apple’s latest toy.
She’s absolutely right. Trust no one. Well except us of course
With that in mind, I’m now going to point you to a legit iPad giveaway that I guarantee is not a hoax, phishing attempt or a desperate ploy to get you to send money to a 3rd world African country.
Sympatico.ca is running their own iPad contest here: http://sympaticocontests.ca/contests/ipadsgiveaway/ where you have the chance of winning one of three brand new iPads.
Normally I don’t think much of blogging about contests, but since it’s being run by Sync’s parent site, and since we’ve talked about the iPad A LOT here on the blog, and since I sit literally four feet from the person who is organizing this contest, well what the hell.
You may be interested to know that when my desk-neighbour told me a few weeks ago that she was going to secure some iPads for an upcoming contest, I was very skeptical that she would be able to get her hands on one, let alone three. I even bet her a large Timmy’s coffee (yes, I was that sure she couldn’t do it).
I should have known better. You wouldn’t believe the lengths she has gone to in order to make sure our three winners get their prizes. I won’t go into detail, but suffice it to say I’m glad the bet was just for a coffee.
Good luck if you enter… I’d be right there with you, except for a little provision in the rules that bars me from entering. Stupid lawyers. Yes, I am sulking.

Apparently this contest is not open to residents of Quebec.

I DON’T UNDERSTAND WE A RE A PART OF CANADA WHY DO THEY NOT INCLUDE US?
(Report comment)
Yes you ARE part of Canada, but there is a faction, only 37% of quebecers, that wants all of you out. So they obstruct at every turn. Think about it. How easy is it to post a sign with english on it in quebec. The overwhelming majority of companies, canadian and america, that offer contests are ENGLISH run , and their execs are justifiably insulted by this language gulag. As for central and south american companies, french in the americas is a none starter since its linguistic footprint is less than 1/2 of one percent. It’s the golden rule,. who has the gold rules.

It’s a provincial thing not federal. Ask the Quebec government.

You say you guys are a part of Canada, then STOP talking SEPARATION…
(Report comment)
Thats because people in Quebec have the strangest contest laws-and so many contests are not open to people in Quebec, so you really can’t be surprised.

Very cool contest. Thanks.

This contest is not available to Quebec because of their stupid bilingual laws. The contest rules are probably not in french. It’s the main reason why all the good stuff goes to the rest of Canada before it comes here. Stupid separatists…it’s all their fault.

Quebec Contest Laws: http://contests.about.com/od/sweepstakes101/f/VoidinQuebec.htm

Hi folks!
You’re not the first ones to mention the exclusion of Quebec from English contests. Whenever a contest is run in Quebec, it must be available to Quebecers in French or in French and English. While we always try to communicate the importance and benefit of running a bilingual contest to our partners, some prefer to run their promotions in English only. When this is the case, we cannot run the contest in Quebec. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.
Thanks,

Quebec has different laws where contests are concerned, that is why it’s not open there.
